“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.” Genesis 12:2
God’s ways are truly fascinating, simply mind-blowing! I never cease to be amazed at how and when God will work, move, or speak in my life. Without fail, every time I find myself in awe of who He is. Tonight was no different. I just finished teaching “Found On My Knees” to a group of about 140 incredible women, and as if that weren’t a big enough blessing, they went above and beyond and wrote individual cards of thanks and encouragement to me. It took me over an hour to read through each one, and to be quite honest, I cried through many of them as their words of love and encouragement uplifted my heart and my soul more than you’d know. I’ve never felt so loved, so valued, so needed.
And then it hit me.
“Blessed to be a blessing.” Every blessing we’ve been given, every gift God’s lavished on us, we were meant to bless others with. You see, in Christ, each and every one of us has been given spiritual gifts. Whether you believe it or not, see it or not, it’s true. And each gift was meant to be a gift to another. God has not only blessed me with a story to share, but He has also coupled that story with a gift and a passion to teach His Word. So I do, and without fail, every time I take a trembling (yes, trembling) step of faith to teach God’s Word to women, I’m met with the overwhelming response of lives being changed by the truth of His Word. There is no greater gift than to be front row in someone’s life as God is changing them and transforming their heart. I’m blessed, and I’m blessed in order to be a blessing to others.
As I read through each card filled with words of affirmation and love, I couldn’t help but see the above verse being played out in my very life. These women relayed how they had been blessed through this Bible study, but as they shared their hearts with me, I was blessed in turn. We are blessed to be a blessing. They were blessed and turned around and blessed me in return.
Do we see our gifts and our abilities in that light? God has blessed you, my friend. He’s gifted you with a unique gift set that was intended to bless others. I encourage you today to step into the blessing of blessing others. Join the movement of believers across the world who are being blessed and passing the blessing on again and again. That is how the love of Christ is shared. That is how lives are changed for eternity. Are you blessed? Then, go and be a blessing to the world.
