I know I’m not alone when I say that there are times when doubt gets the best of me. I hate to admit it, but I am just as painfully human as the next person, and there are days when my faith is feels weak and doubt is strong.
Over the past few days, I found myself in conversations about doubt and faith, and what we should do when the struggle between both is real. How do you trust God when your emotions are pulling you toward doubting Him? How do you stand firm and not waver when the ground beneath your feet is shaking?
You call to mind His promises.
“You keep him in perfect peace him whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
So, for the times that you doubt, call to mind His truth.
Perfect peace is yours for the taking if you keep your mind fixed and focused on Jesus.
Your roots will go deep, fear and anxiety will be far from you, and you will bear much fruit if you truth in the Lord.
You have no reason to fear. You will never be alone. God will not abandon you. Not now, not ever. So be strong and courageous.
God is going to finish the good work that He started in you.
For the times when you doubt, choose to remember who your God is. He is a promise maker and a promise keeper. Lean into His promises for you today, and rest in His truth.
