“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18
We are at war.
Did you know that? Every moment of every day, a battle rages for our very souls. A heavenly battle, an unseen battle, but a very real battle nonetheless. What are you doing about it?
My opening words may have caused fear to rise to the surface for some of you, but the truth of the matter is that we are victorious in this battle…in Christ. Again, I’m going back to our identity, and if we are followers of Jesus Christ, our identity is IN HIM. It is found nowhere else but in the matchless name of Jesus Christ and in His powerful work of redemption upon the cross. So, there is no need for fear because this battle that rages around us has already been won. We are victorious in Christ.
That doesn’t mean, however, that there is no need to fight. God has equipped us with armor for this spiritual battle, pieces of spiritual armor to protect us against the enemy and his schemes as we “stand firm” in our faith in Christ. As I’ve studied this passage in Ephesians 6 now for years, I’ve discovered something truly fascinating. I always pictured this armor as defensive in nature alone, which is great, but I missed a very significant part. Ephesians 6:17-18 offers us our two offensive pieces of the armor to be used in this battle over the enemy. And those two weapons are??? God’s Word and prayer. Did you ever think of these as weapons? Because they are! And they are powerful weapons at that! So, my question to you today is this:
Do you use them?
How regularly do you pick up your sword (God’s Word) to read it, study it, meditate on it, and even memorize it? It’s a weapon, and the power of God’s Word defeats the enemy every day, every time! And prayer…do you pray? Do you believe in the power of prayer? Prayer keeps us in constant communication with our Heavenly Father. What relationship can be successful without communication? The answer is none. And for that matter, what battle can be won by a soldier who never communicates with his commanding officer? So why on earth would we ever neglect prayer? And have you ever viewed prayer as a weapon, a powerful weapon that can overcome and defeat our very real enemy?
Well, I have a confession to make. I believe in the power of prayer, and today, I am choosing to be found on my knees FOR YOU. Maybe in the midst of your present circumstance, you have lost hope. Then know that I am choosing to stand in the gap for you today. I am praying for you today. I am asking the Lord to restore hope to your soul, hope in Jesus Christ and who He is and what He is able to do. Would you let me pray for you today?
Here’s what I’m asking. Whether I know you personally or not, Jesus knows you intimately, and I know Him. Would you post in the comments how I can pray for you today, and I will boldly go before the throne of grace on your behalf? I will storm the gates of heaven for you, believing that God is able to do what He says He can do. Whether you have lost hope or not, whether it’s been months or years since you’ve uttered a prayer of your own…I want to pray for you today. I will be found on my knees for you today, praying that the God of all comfort and grace would strengthen you in Him so that you will not lose heart. Today, I will be found on my knees for you.
How can I pray for you?
Tonight I ask for prayer for my husband and children to have a safe to Idaho. They set out tomorrow for the 16 hour drive and than for my husbands safe return on Sunday after dropping them off.
Praying for them now, April.
That God will restore our finances and we will someday lend, and not borrow, and for God to bring me a job. My husband has a good job but I would like a part time job to help out (kids in college) and there isn’t a lot of jobs here. But I know God is able! Thanks so much:)
I would like to ask for prayer for my mommy heart. This season has been tough and only going to get more challenging when we add a new life to our family. Pray for renewed strength and that I would not grow weary in well doing. Thanks for your commitment to fight with us! God will richly bless you :).
Please pray that God continues to do the GREAT BIG HUGE things he is doing in my marriage!! I have so much to tell you!! HUGE praises!!!
Pls pray that i might have courage for the journey and that my family could grow closer despite painful scars in our past.
I know I am a day late but I hope you can still pray for us 🙂 Prayers for my husband who flew out today to Pennsylvania for school. He will be pitching his novel to other authors. And prayers for our family and what God is doing with our fertility.
Thank you friend!
