“Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105
Friends, this is going to be short and sweet, hopefully a much needed breath of fresh air in your busy day. I know you and I don’t have time to waste on words, so let’s just jump right into the point.
You and I NEED the Word of God. Period.
It’s not just a good thing, a beneficial thing; it’s a necessary thing. We need to stop fooling ourselves into thinking and believing that we can get through one day (successfully, that is) without a good dose of it.
In the simplest way possible, Psalm 119:105 sheds some much needed light on this truth.
The Word of God lights our path.
In the day and age which we live, I’m going to go ahead and assume that what I’m about to say applies to each and every one of us, even on our best of days:
We need a bit of light on our paths.
I’m not just talking about direction, either, although the Lord knows we could use some as we wander and sometimes stumble through this life. I’m talking about light to dispel some of the darkness. I’m talking about some joy to replace some sorrow. I’m talking about a new perspective instead of the old dusty ones that just aren’t cutting it anymore.
You and I NEED the Word of God. Every day. Every moment.
So, friends: Get into it. Soak it up. Read it. Meditate on it. Memorize it. Let His Word be what’s on the tip of your tongue the next time you’re tempted toward impatience, anger, and bitterness. Let His Word be what’s at the forefront of your mind the next time you’re struggling with despair, rejection, and doubt. His Word lights our path. So, get into it.
