“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him have no lack! The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.” Psalm 34:8-10
There have been many times in my life that I have come back to these three verses. Reading them again today fills my heart with a sweet remembrance of all that the LORD has brought me through. As I reflect back, I cannot miss God’s continued faithfulness. I can so easily see how He provided every good thing that I needed. I have tasted and seen that the LORD is good! Have you?
Today, my prayer for you is simply this: I am praying that you will seek the LORD with all your heart in all things and for all things so that you will know the LORD’S goodness in all ways.
Heavenly Father,
Today, I am reminded again of your faithfulness. I am reminded again of your goodness. Your Word repeatedly boasts of your goodness, therefore I choose to believe today that you are good despite my current circumstance. I also recognize that any doubt I’ve lingered in is simply because I’ve failed to embrace your presence. Lord, I pray for a revival in our hearts today, a newfound longing for more of you to rise up within our souls. Once we’ve experienced the joy of who you are, we will stand confident of your goodness. Forgive us for failing to taste and see that you are good. Because we fail to seek you and to be found in your presence, we fail to see your goodness woven into every aspect of our lives. Father, I long for each one to taste of your goodness, to experience your nearness, and to know your provision of all good things. Create within each one of us a greater desire to seek you, to draw near to you. When we wake in the morning, stir our thoughts and our hearts towards you. As we go throughout our day, compel us to open your Word and cling to its truth. As we rest our heads down at night, teach us to rehearse your faithfulness so that we will know of your goodness. May we never stop expecting you and experiencing you. Your promise remains: if we seek you, we will lack no good thing. Remind each of us again today that your good is the absolute best. You don’t give half-heartedly and you never fail to keep your promises. Therefore, teach us to cling to you today as our refuge from the storms of this life, for when we do, you call us blessed. The good that we’re searching for in this world can only be found fully in you. So, to you we cling. It is you we seek. Now, sweet Jesus, flood us with the reality of your goodness.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
