Praying God’s Word by Beth Moore
Over the past five years, I have read and reread this book. I have led Bible studies through this book. The copy I have is now tattered and worn. The reason I would so highly recommend this book to you is that 85% of its pages are Scripture. The premise of the book is to learn how to infuse God’s Word into your prayers (praying God’s Word) in order to break free from spiritual strongholds. When I began to practice the discipline of praying Scripture, the spark that was once my prayer life burst into a roaring flame. There is such power in God’s Word. Consider this my strong invitation to you to read through Praying God’s Word! It will be a remarkable investment in your prayer life as well as your study of God’s Word.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
“A powerful retelling of the book of Hosea, Redeeming Love is a life-changing story of God’s unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love.” This book absolutely thrilled me, captured my heart, had me in tears, and everything in between. It truly is a story of redemption, of undeserved love and grace, and a beautiful picture of God’s endless pursuit of love for us revealed through the life of a prostitute in the 1800′s. I was ever so sweetly reminded of my Savior’s love for me, His grace that covers my darkest of sins, and my most unpleasant past.
Crazy Love by Francis Chan
“Overwhelmed by a relentless God.” Have you ever felt the overwhelming pursuit of God’s love in your life? And has the awareness of God’s love and His presence changed you in any way? Has it compelled you to not only love Him in return with a fierce passion but to also love others well, with the same love that God has lavished on you? Do you live differently because of His love? Are your priorities ones that would bring the Kingdom of Heaven down to this earth? This line does well in summing it up: “Because when you’re wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.”
The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer
Possibly the best $10 I’ve ever spent on a book, A.W. Tozer’s The Pursuit of God often kept me awake into the early morning hours, as I simply could not put this book down. Although the book is filled with truths I’ve heard before, perhaps it is the way that they are written. It’s compelling; it’s captivating. You know you’ve found an incredible read when the introduction floors you, and by floored, I mean ready to hit the floor, on my knees in awe of an awesome God! I couldn’t encourage you more to read this book. It’s filled with profound insights and theology, biblical truth, and inspiration. My faith was ignited and a desire that cannot seem to be quenched to pursue God was fanned to flame.
Undaunted by Christine Caine
The subtitle alone compels me to greater faith: “Daring to do what God calls you to do.” As Christine walks you through many parts of her own painful story, she offers the truth and hope of God’s Word in that He makes all things good, and He uses the broken pieces of our lives to forward His Kingdom here on this earth when we surrender our lives to His call. Sharing in her passion to eradicate human slavery in our generation, I was inspired to not only accept the call of God on my own life but to embrace it with passion and fervency. You don’t want to miss out on this one!
