“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
Waves of sorrow, oceans of grief. I simply cannot imagine the depth of their pain. What seemed like an average morning to me was interrupted by such devastating news. A precious baby boy was ushered into the arms of heaven, leaving two grieving parents behind without explanation. Unimaginable heartbreak. Tremendous loss. Gut-wrenching sorrow. Come quickly, Lord Jesus. Come.
My sweet friend, Erin from my college days and her husband Jason have suffered the loss of their 10 month old baby boy, Parker. There are no words. I have tried to find them to offer some sentiment or comfort, but words escape me. I simply cannot imagine their sorrow, but I am praying with all of my heart. I don’t do this often, but I am asking you to join me in covering Jason and Erin in prayer. The only hope to be found in this tragedy is in the name of Jesus Christ. He is the firm foundation, the solid Rock that will not be shaken. Would you lift them up in prayer? Would you call out on their behalf when I can only imagine they cannot find the words themselves?
Sweet Jesus, part the waters. Still the storm. Calm their fears. Comfort their aching hearts.
When I think I’m going under, part the waters, Lord.
When I feel the waves around me, calm the sea.
When I cry for help, O hear me, Lord and hold out your hand.
Touch my life, still the raging storm in me.
I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.
I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide, or life is vain.
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.
