“Was it not you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?” Isaiah 51:10
Heavenly Father,
You have called me to faith, the kind of faith that believes your Word is true, faith that drives me to action. So, hear my prayer of faith, incline your ear to me now. I have trusted in who you say you are, and it has stirred my heart to action. Give me faith to step out and do what your Word tells me to do.
You alone are great and worthy to be praised. You are high and exalted, and to you all glory and honor is due. You spoke and all that we see came to be. Your hands fashioned and formed me. The shining stars display your magnificence. Even the winds blow at your command. You blew and parted the great Red Sea, allowing your people to cross over on dry land to safety. I can hardly imagine the fear that must have welled up in their hearts as the walls of the sea lined either side of them, tempting them to turn back. Yet, it was their faith in you that led them on.
Father help me to see that fear is the enemy of faith. When I give in to fear, it cripples and paralyzes my faith, causing me to be ineffective in serving you and in reaching others for you. Increase my faith and weaken my will. When my emotions tempt me to fear whatever it may be that you’re calling me to, help me to choose faith instead. Bring to remembrance your faithfulness, not only to your chosen people Israel, but also in my own life. As I reflect on all that you’ve done in and through me, cause my faith to flourish. Just as you made a way in the depths of the sea for them, you are making a way for me to pass over. Help me to refuse fear, to embrace faith, and to stand firm on your truth. It is only through you that I can overcome. Grant me the faith necessary to follow after you wherever you might lead me, whether it be to the mountain’s heights or the valleys depths. Faith is choosing to believe that you are good despite my circumstances. Today, Jesus, I choose faith!
1. Rehearse God’s faithfulness – what “Red Seas” has God parted for you, making a way for you in the depths of the sea?
2. Using Hebrews 11:1 and 6, journal your own prayer of faith to the Lord.
