I already know what some of you are thinking. Yep, some of you have already begun to cringe just by the title of my post. Then, of course, there are those of you who are smiling while thinking, “October? I was doing Christmas in September!” Whichever camp you fall into, whether you stand firm in your conviction that Christmas music and other such yuletide celebration should be reserved until after Thanksgiving, or perhaps you’re found blasting the Christmas music at the first sign of Fall eagerly awaiting the red Starbucks cups and your peppermint mocha…to all of you, I have some great news.
Today, Francesca Battistelli released her first Christmas album, simply titled “Christmas”. I have to share this with you because I couldn’t be more excited about this new project of hers. Whether or not you’re even ready to think about Christmas yet, you just need to know that this is a CD that is worth your consideration now. This incredible Christmas album is filled with songs of old that you’ll remember well with joy and new and fresh songs from Francesca herself. In particular, I love her new song “You’re Here”, a beautiful depiction of Mary’s perspective, the mother of Jesus, just after she birthed the Savior.
The album is filled with soulful melodies and upbeat rhythms that will put a smile on your face and Christmas cheer in your heart, even if you don’t think you’re ready for it. One of the things I love most about some of the old Christmas hymns is the heart of worship that they bear. You’ll find that and more in this new album of hers. Hot off the press, jump on iTunes today and get this Christmas gift!
