…if it is surrendered to an Almighty God through trust and faith and in obedience. Then, the result can lead to the pasture of God’s blessings.
This past weekend, I had the tremendous privilege of serving the women of Real Life Church at their annual women’s retreat. Saying that I was blessed is truly an understatement. I would challenge you to cry out to God as Moses did with this request:
“Show me your glory, Lord.”
Then, sit back, wait, and watch Him do exactly that. And when He does, your life will be changed forever. I know mine was.
As some of you might know, I recently published and released my very first Bible study, “Found On My Knees”. It not only has been a long time coming, but it has proven to be a blessing in the lives of others. This past weekend was spent teaching through the majority of this study to the women of Real Life. As we journeyed together from brokenness to blessing, the Lord in all His glory showed up and showed off. I’m not sure a single woman present could say that they did not sense His presence. It was thick in the air and nearly tangible. Our worship was passionate and sincere, and it was met with God’s manifest presence. We saw His glory. We witnessed His healing power in our hearts. We left transformed…changed.
Going into the retreat, I knew that I could not accomplish anything without the Lord’s strength, and it was His strength that pulled me through. For two nights straight, I slept only a handful of hours, and if you know me at all, you know that this simply does not work for me. I need my sleep! There isn’t enough coffee in the world that can replace the sleep I need each night! And yet, despite my many weaknesses, Christ’s power was displayed and overwhelmed every last one of them. I spent a considerable amount of time meditating on the truth of 2 Corinthians 12:9:
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
There are countless stories to retell from the few days we spent together up in the mountains of Arizona, but the common denominator of each one is that God’s glory was revealed. Prayers were specifically answered in ways that astounded me. Years of brokenness and pain were surrendered to the Lord in faith, trusting that the one who walks in obedience to God’s Word experiences the blessings from His hand. Divine encounters occurred, and friendships began that are destined to last a lifetime.
As I passionately poured out in my teaching all that God had taught me over the past several years of my journey with Him, I could so clearly see how He had turned my own brokenness into blessing. Through the years of surrendering every last part of myself to the Lord and His purposes, my capacity to trust Him increased. My faith grew as I daily made the commitment to walk by faith and not by sight, and it resulted in experiencing His blessings.
Don’t miss this: God blesses obedience.
He just does. He desires that we walk in obedience to His Word, knowing that when we choose to align ourselves with His truth, we avoid the pain that our sin inevitably brings.
I so wish each one of you could have been there with us this past weekend as we dove into the depths of God’s Word, but for those of you who could not join us, perhaps you need this reminder today:
Your brokenness can lead to blessing. Choose to surrender it to Him today, to the God who heals, and begin to live the life of faith that He calls you to.
