“Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD; His going out is sure as the dawn; He will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.” Hosea 6:3
If there is one thing I’ve come to know to be true about the Lord it is that He keeps His promises. He is a promise-giver and a promise-keeper. He is true to His Word. He never over promises and under delivers. He shows up. Every time. On time. He’s never late.
It is on rare occasion that I rise before the sun, but today was such an occasion. It was in those few minutes before the sun’s rays came bursting through my window that I was reminded of the promise God gives us in Hosea 6:3. When we are facing unimaginable grief, despair, loneliness, hardship, or pain, darkness tends to be a way that we would describe our circumstances. Light has this ability to offer hope, and when we find ourselves in trying times, hope seems to escape us. But then, there’s Hosea 6:3 – as sure as the sun will rise, He’ll come to us. As sure as the rain will fail and water the earth, His Spirit will come and quench and refresh our thirsty souls.
Today, I encourage you to hold on. I encourage you to press on. He will come. He will be true to His Word. He will keep His promises. Find hope in His light. Find strength in His Word. Find courage to face your loss in His constant presence.
